Oregon AFSCME is hosting a
Volunteer Member Organizer (VMO) training the weekend of April 5-6 in Portland,
and is looking for as many as 25 volunteers.
This VMO training will be a
canvass of Portland-area fair share members of both Local 328 (OHSU) and Local
132 (Child Care Providers Together). Historically, the union understands that
in many cases, fair share payers aren't members simply because no one has ever

"Meals will be provided, and
we're also paying for hotel costs for people who travel from outside of the
Portland area," she says. "We are in need of any bilingual or multilingual
folks in particular, that would be fantastic. The child care providers, for
example, have a number of Russian-speaking members in addition to those who
speak Spanish. Local 328 has many Asian-American members. So we can use anyone
