Oregon AFSCME Corrections
members are invited to participate in the third annual Correctional Peace
Officers Foundation (CPOF) golf tournament on Saturday, Aug. 18. The tourney is
a fundraiser to help support CPOF's mission to perpetuate the memory of those
killed in the line of duty, provide for spouses, children or other
beneficiaries and project a positive image of the Corrections profession, both
internally and to the general public.
The tournament will be held
at Sandelie Golf Course in West Linn. Registration at the course begins at 7
a.m., with an 8 a.m. start time. It is a four-person scramble format, and
includes 18 holes of golf, a riding cart, prizes, lunch and other various
awards. Amongst the on-course competitions — in addition to the usual long
drive, closest to the pin and such — will be a $10,000 hole-in-one
contest.
Both Council 75 and AFSCME
Local 405 (Coffee Creek Security) are official tournament co-sponsors, and as
such AFSCME gets three teams in the event. If you're interested in playing, you
should e-mail Tom Donaldson immediately. To absolutely assure that you are assigned a cart you
should contact Donaldson by Aug. 2.
McDonald notes the
tournament would welcome other AFSCME teams. A tournament registration form
with full details is attached to this article.
